Support that fits the way your school works.
A programme works best when the adults leading and delivering it feel confident. That's why we offer a range of support options to help your team get the most from Groundwork Maths, from an initial set-up conversation, to TA training, to ongoing guidance through the year. You choose the level that fits your school.

A structured programme is only as strong as the people delivering it.
A teaching assistant given a folder of resources and asked to “have a go” can quickly feel unsure about where to start. The same TA, given clear training, time to practise, and someone to turn to, is far more likely to feel confident.
That is why support is built into Groundwork Maths. It helps turn structured materials into a programme that adults can deliver well and pupils can rely on.
Understanding the why makes delivery stronger.
The strongest delivery comes from adults who understand why each part of a session is there, not just what to do next. They see how the steps fit together, why the questions are sequenced carefully, and what each phase is helping pupils understand.
Practice beats theory.
Reading about an intervention is not the same as delivering it with pupils in front of you. Our training gives staff time to practise. They work through real session cards, rehearse the questioning, use the manipulatives, and ask the questions they might not ask once pupils are in the room.
Schools change. People change.
A new TA joins. A maths lead moves on. A year group has different needs. Ongoing access to training and support means new staff do not have to work it out alone, and pupils do not lose consistency when adults change.
Free resources to help you get started.
Whether you add a support package or not, there are free resources to help your team get up and running:
- Groundwork Guides. Free interactive guides covering programme structure, micro-steps and the four parts of a Groundwork session, with more added over time.
- Free introductory webinars. Join a free 45-minute online introduction to Groundwork Maths, covering the assessments, Phase Packs, what sessions look like and the support available.
Identify. Teach. Grow.
Three layers of support, designed to meet schools where they are. Choose the level that matches your team's experience and confidence. Each layer builds on the one before.
Tier 1Groundwork Identify £80
For schools with a confident team who want help getting started well.
Groundwork Identify £80
For schools with a confident team who want help getting started well.
Knowing where to start is half the battle. Groundwork Identify is a 45-minute call with one of our Impact Leads, alongside your maths lead, to help you get the programme set up properly in your school.
How you use the time is up to you. Some schools use it to talk through which diagnostics to run and how to run them well. Others use it to review results and agree the right starting point for pupils, working out which Phases and Modules each pupil needs and the order they should follow. Others want to focus on the practical side: how to set up groups, fit sessions into the timetable, and brief the team. Whatever the focus, your maths lead leaves with a clear plan and the confidence to take the next step.
This is the smallest tier of support, and for some schools it is exactly the right amount. If your TAs are already confident running structured intervention, Identify helps you make the right decisions about how to get going.
What's involved
- 45-minute call with an Impact Lead, shaped around what your school needs most.
- Setup support across diagnostics, starting points, grouping and implementation.
- Short follow-up note summarising what was agreed.
Tier 2Groundwork Identify + Teach £250
For schools whose team is newer to maths intervention, or new to Groundwork Maths.
Groundwork Identify + Teach £250
For schools whose team is newer to maths intervention, or new to Groundwork Maths.
Groundwork Identify + Teach includes everything in Identify, plus unlimited webinar training across the year. It is designed for schools who want their team to feel properly grounded before they begin delivering sessions, and to keep developing as the year goes on.
Live webinars run weekly or fortnightly, and every live session is recorded and added to the on-demand library, so anyone who can't make a live slot can catch up in their own time. Topics rotate across the year and cover pedagogy, structure, and delivery in depth.
Many schools choose this tier when their TA team has not delivered a structured maths intervention before, or when leaders want everyone to share an understanding of the pedagogy behind the programme.
What's involved
- Everything in Groundwork Identify.
- Unlimited live webinars, run weekly or fortnightly.
- A growing on-demand library of recorded webinars, including every live session.
- Topic deep-dives on diagnostics, intervention setup, manipulatives, and adult questioning.
Tier 3Groundwork Identify + Teach + Grow £1,500
For schools embedding the programme deeply, with our team alongside you.
Groundwork Identify + Teach + Grow £1,500
For schools embedding the programme deeply, with our team alongside you.
Groundwork Identify + Teach + Grow includes everything in Identify and Teach, plus a year of in-school support from an assigned Impact Lead. It is designed for schools who want coaching, feedback and regular guidance as the programme becomes part of everyday practice.
Across the year, your Impact Lead makes up to three visits to your school, totalling up to twelve hours on site. They observe real sessions, support TAs with live feedback, and review pupil progress with your maths lead. Alongside the visits, email check-ins and ongoing support run through the year, giving space for the questions that don't always fit neatly into a webinar: a pupil who isn't progressing, a TA who needs a confidence boost, or a new colleague who needs bringing up to speed.
We also run reactive deep-dive webinars based on what schools on this tier are working through. If a particular issue is coming up across several schools, we'll build a session around it.
This tier is about making the programme stick. Seeing real sessions and talking about real pupils helps staff move from following the structure to owning it.
Groundwork Grow is available to schools in England at launch.

Want us in the room?
One-off training, built around your setting.

For schools on Groundwork Grow, face-to-face launch and ongoing training is already included. This is for everyone else.
If you'd like a one-off day with us, to launch the programme, train a wider team, or bring everyone onto the same page, we can come to you. It works particularly well for INSET days, trust-wide training, or a shared launch across several schools.
The day can be shaped around what your team needs most. We can introduce the programme, model real sessions, practise the questioning, handle the manipulatives, look at diagnostics, and help leaders plan how Groundwork Maths will run in practice.
For trusts and groups of schools, this can be especially powerful. It gives everyone the same starting point, the same language, and the same understanding of what strong delivery looks like.
Tell us what you have in mind, and we'll put together a quote that fits your school, trust or group.

Hi, I'm Sophie. I look after schools using Groundwork Maths.
I'm the Impact Lead for Groundwork Maths, which means I'm the person on our team who makes sure schools using the programme get what they need from it. I write a lot of our training, sit in on a lot of our calls, and spend a fair bit of time in classrooms watching real sessions and talking with maths leads about what is and isn't working.
I started my career as a primary teacher and curriculum leader. From there I moved into the maths education world properly, working at two previous maths organisations, including one where I led the programme's expansion into Australia and worked with schools across very different contexts. That experience, along with the time spent in primary classrooms, is what I lean on now when supporting schools through Groundwork Maths.
I care, more than anything, about equity in maths education: the simple, stubborn idea that pupils who arrive with gaps in their foundations should not be locked out of the rest of the curriculum because of them. Groundwork Maths is the most concrete piece of work I've come across for closing that gap properly, and I'm here to make sure the schools we work with feel that.
