Get an introduction to Groundwork Maths, or explore how to use our free assessments to understand pupils' learning and plan next steps. Every webinar is free, online and 45 minutes.

Introduction to Groundwork Maths

A 45-minute introduction to Groundwork Maths for schools who want to know what the programme is and how it works in practice.

We'll walk through the free assessments, how the Phase Packs are structured, what a small group session looks like week to week, and the training and support available. There's time for questions at the end, and you'll leave knowing whether Groundwork Maths is the right fit for your school.

Assessment: Ready to Progress Checks

A 45-minute webinar on using the Ready to Progress Checks to see what pupils have understood about number and place value, what needs another look, and how to plan your next steps.

We'll work through an example class using the teacher guidance and results spreadsheet, record concerns, and identify what to revisit with the whole class or with pupils who share a particular gap. We'll also explore three important place value ideas, what pupils' answers might reveal and ways to support pupils who are finding them difficult, and show how the Checks connect to Groundwork Maths Diagnose tasks and teaching modules. The Checks cover Years 1 to 6, with questions based on the DfE's ready-to-progress criteria. The session is for class teachers, maths leads and colleagues who support pupils with maths. You don't need to use Groundwork Maths to use the Checks or to attend, and if you've already used a Check it may help to have your class summary beside you.
