A Phase Pack is the printed teaching guides and resources for one phase of one strand. Choose just the phases your pupils need, or the whole programme. Pay once, no subscription, no renewals.
What's in a phase pack?
Each Phase Pack contains the materials for every module in the phase. For each module, you get a teaching guide covering the ten sessions in detail, and a pack of worksheets and supporting resources to use alongside.

Phases 3 and 4 of both strands follow in late September, then Addition & Subtraction and Multiplication & Division in October, Fractions in November and Geometry in December. Each Phase Pack shows its delivery window below.
Phase Packs with later delivery windows are dispatched in stages as they become available. Delivery windows are indicative and may change.

How does ordering work?
The payment methods available to you are shown at checkout. If you have any questions about ordering, please contact us. Phase Packs marked Available now are dispatched within five working days; later phases follow in stages as they become available.
Why printed, not digital?
We trialled both. Printed worked better for schools. Adults like seeing the whole phase in one place, flicking back to recap or looking ahead to what's coming. Many of the teaching assistants running these sessions don't have reliable access to a laptop or printer in school. A printed teaching guide on the shelf, ready to use, removes all of that friction.
Are there PowerPoints or slides to go with the sessions?
No. Groundwork is deliberately screen-free. Sessions work best when pupils are handling mathematical equipment, talking with the adult, and looking at the materials in front of them, not at a screen.
Do we need to supply mathematical equipment?
Yes. Groundwork Maths provides the teaching resources. You'll need to supply the mathematical equipment yourselves. Each teaching guide lists the equipment needed for that phase. Pupils and the adult will each need a mini whiteboard too.
Do we need more than one copy of each teaching guide?
If two adults are delivering the same module at the same time, yes, a copy each works best. You can add additional copies to your basket by selecting the desired number.
Can we buy a single phase, or do we need the whole strand?
Buy phase by phase. Each Phase Pack is sold on its own. Most schools only need a handful of phases rather than the full strand. If you want a whole strand, you can buy all its phases together.
Why are the phase packs different prices?
Each phase is made up of a different number of modules. The price of each phase pack is equivalent to £12 per module.
Do I need to buy phases in order?
Not necessarily. The diagnostics show which phases your pupils need, and you buy the ones that match.
What if a Phase Pack we want has a later delivery window?
Order it now with the rest of your order. Each Phase Pack shows its delivery window in the catalogue, and we dispatch it as soon as it becomes available. Your order total is confirmed at checkout, whichever way you pay.
How long does delivery take?
Phase Packs marked Available now are dispatched within five working days of your order. Phase Packs with a later delivery window are dispatched in stages as they become available, and we'll let you know when each stage is on the way. UK delivery is included, including staged deliveries.
Are there refunds or returns?
Yes. If a pack arrives damaged or you've ordered the wrong one, get in touch and we'll sort it out.
Can a trust or group of schools order across multiple sites?
Yes. Trusts can order centrally for multiple schools. Get in touch and we'll arrange delivery to suit you, whether that's to each school or to one central address.
What about VAT?
Printed teaching guides and student workbooks are zero-rated for VAT in the UK. No VAT is added at checkout. VAT does apply to our support packages, and the rate is shown at checkout.
Do we have to use the assessments?
No. The free assessments are there to help you pinpoint each pupil's gaps, but they're not compulsory. If you already identify gaps another way and know which phases your pupils need, you can order those Phase Packs directly.
